Introduced in 1988 for Inter-City services on the newly-electrified East Coast Main Line, the Class 91 has been the premier express locomotive working with Mark 4 coaches on routes between London, Yorkshire and Scotland.

Changes in franchise ownership has seen a huge variety of liveries and may soon see 91s working in Eastern Europe for EuroPhoenix.
